Going Greener
As a company 100% dedicated to organic coffee, the whole reason we exist it to
support the environment. This is the reason we got into the organic coffee business
in the first place.
And, we should mention, Jim was the very first person to start an all-organic
coffee roaster way back in 1992. Let's just say Jim took all those Grateful Dead
shows and saving the rainforests pretty seriously.
.So now we Go Greener!!
*** Jim's has partnered with the EPA's Green Power Partnership and Sterling
Planet in order to use only green energy.
(((How does it work?? Offsets. We are not a huge company that can shell out
the big bucks for solar panels and wind turbines. So the way offsets work is that
we support the use of solar panels, wind turbines and other renewable energy
sources, which in turn, compensates for our electricity and gas use.)))
*** Jim's Organic Coffee is one of the first companies to provide their customers
with fully compostable eco-cups.
**** Jim's Organic Coffee is one of the first companies to use a sealed, one-way
valve, stay fresh coffee bag that contains renewable resources. Our new bags
contain 19% renewable resources. The coffee bags use a layer of modified Polylactide
(PLA), which is derived from corn and comprises about 19% of its layering.
The benefit of this innovative packaging is that the petroleum-based components
of the structure are replaced with renewable resources thus dramatically improving
the 'greenness' of the packaging.
